All New Shimano 23 Antares DC MD, Monster Drive debuts. This fishing reel is to target big fish in all waters around the globe, like famous Dorado peacock in Amazon, Mbenga in Congo, Taimen in Russia, Catfish in Mecon and etc, in 5kg, 10kg and much larger great fighters.
To maximize the chance to catch them, Antares DC MD has sturdy metal frames, enlarged 38mm dia, 21mm width spools, 20lb(JP)-100m line capacity, and fast gear ratios. MD tuned DC brake system is more finely tuned to draw the best performance from Magnum Light 3 spools to cast bulky large baits in comforts. Another ball bearing is added to main shaft support to remove plays and to improve cranking power.
How to set Brake. 4 modes are under side cover, F, P, N and XB. XB: Monster Drive mode should be chosen for large heavy rigs. XB mode with dial 1-3 are to cast heavy rigs in slim shapes, like metal jigs and vibration baits. XB mode with dial 4-8 are to cast bulky baits the longest. At these modes, DC brake system emits instant flash brakes to spool to prevent baits turning in air, to stabilize the flying position of baits. Suitable baits for each dials are, 4:crank baits, 5: large cranks and swim baits, 6:big baits in bluegill shapes, 7:large spinner baits, 8:big crawler baits and Alabama rigs. As the dial number increase, the more brake force will be applied. Brake setting difference between 4 and 5 is large and if you want a setting in the middle, please set internal to F mode.
F, P and N should be chosen to cast around 1/2-1oz regular bass rigs, and pick one to match the line material on the reel. F: fluorocarbon line, P: PE braided line, N: Nylon monofilament.
