Shimano 21 Antares DC Japan model 2021- The best bait caster in 2024

All New Shimano's high-end low profiled bait caster, Antares DC reels are debut. It has totally new body, in the size of 150. It is the smoothest, longest casting reel with a little compact body. It has New 4x8 DC computer controlled brake system which senses and controls spool speeds more finely than previous 4x8 DC system. New Magnum Light Spool 3 is machined to remove weight further and accelerates faster. Ultra Micro module gears leave almost no gearing noise to hands. All of these features are housed in very sturdy aluminum Hagane body frame. 4 DC modes, F: fluorocarbon line mode, P: PE braided line mode, N: Nylon monofilament mode, X: extreme long cast mode. Please set one from these 4 to suite your line chosen. X should be chosen to cast the longest with heavier than 5/8oz rigs. In the promotion Youtube video, a tester casts 31.5g vibration for more than 100m, and spooled 130m line is all out.

Jun's comment: This 21 model Antares DC is still the best in 2023. This model has a little larger body than 19 Antares, which is as small as Metnaium, to be used great with 14-20lb mono lines. It spools 100m of 14lb(0.310mm) line. I have been super satisfied with this 21 Antares DC XGL on flat-head fishing, sea rock fishing and etc from boat. Spooled 14-16lb fluorocarbon lines, matched with 7'-7'5" H rod to cast 3"-4" hogs on 1/2-1oz jig heads. I set internal DC dial to "F" fluoroarbon mode, and set at 1 or 2 at outer dial. It casts like rocket without fear of backlash. The reel is very strong in power and smooth. Its size is very nice to fit in my palm. XG gear of mine have been damaged by fights with several 10-15kg catfish in Thailand in Feb 2023, and I have installed HG gear and 6kg drag of 23 Antares DC MD to it. It worked great with barramundi of up to 9kg, in Thailand in Feb, 2024. Drag was stopping great, gears are still very smooth after catching more than 50 of the brutal fish in 4-9kg.
