Shimano Force Master reels have line counters by metric. When you spool the line on it, you set the line counter to have it remember the line length. This process is called Line Study, and details will be explained here. After then, reel will indicate accurate depth by setting 0 when rig is at the surface of water. Reel has auto wind stop function, which stops wind-up when rigs are close to surface and protects rod tips from breaking by too-much wind. To utilize this function, you have to set 0 when you start fishing, buy pressing center button for 3 seconds.
-Lines to spool-
I recommend you spool multi-colored PE braided lines made in Japan, as they are made quite accurate in length, and you may use the line counter and line marker together with comfort. Line counter may not indicate in FT.
-Calibrating-
You may calibrate the counter if you find the counter is not accurate. Please press two buttons together left and center for 3 seconds, and line counter will not move and please wind/release line to the indicated depth, and press center button and counter will restart.
-Maintenance-
Please wash reel under flowing tap water to remove any salt from reel body, and dry it completely. I recommend regular overhaul for this motor powered reels after every 50 full fishing days or 3 years. 1 year warranty, offering free repair for flaws, and we service reels for at least 6 years from sale.
